A parent present weekly homeschool community where children build lasting friendships, practice social emotional skills, and grow inside a consistent mixed age rhythm families can count on.
Freedom Friends is for Southern Maine homeschool families who want more than random meetups, rushed activities, and one time social events.
This is a consistent Thursday rhythm where children can see the same familiar faces, build real friendships over time, practice communication, grow in confidence, and experience learning through community.
Parents stay present, friendships form naturally, and the group is guided with intention by Maria Galyean, founder of The Homeschool Admin.
The heart of the program
It may look like children playing, creating, eating, exploring, and talking together. Underneath that, they are practicing the skills homeschool families deeply care about.
Children practice asking for what they need, listening to others, expressing ideas, navigating group play, and joining conversations.
Activities are designed to help children collaborate, take turns, solve problems, share materials, and contribute to a group rhythm.
Shy children are given time to warm up, observe, participate at their own pace, and feel secure in a familiar community.
Older children naturally model, mentor, help younger children, and practice the responsibility that comes from mixed age community.
What is included
Every enrolled family receives support before the year begins, access to the parent community right away, and a weekly rhythm that supports both the children and the parents.
Weekly parent present gatherings on Thursdays from 10AM to 1PM, primarily the Saco Classroom on Main Street, with local field trips detailed on the enrolled family calendar.
Each family receives an included support session. You may choose a private Telegram support week or a private 90 minute call, scheduled through the Calendly link shared inside the Telegram group.
Once your family secures enrollment, you receive access to the parent Telegram group for connection, updates, and support.
Enrolled families will be invited to complimentary summer connection opportunities as the group begins forming before September.
Preschoolers, younger homeschoolers, and older children gather family style so children can learn from one another naturally.
Families receive gentle guidance for noticing and documenting growth, learning, friendship skills, and meaningful moments throughout the year.
Parents remain responsible for supervision, snacks, bathroom help, and child safety while Maria facilitates the rhythm and social emotional learning environment.
Preview the rhythm
This is not a random meetup calendar pulled together week by week. Families receive a mapped rhythm with classroom days, local field trips, social emotional learning, group projects, nature experiences, and seasonal community moments.
The calendar gives parents a tangible preview of the rhythm, the gathering locations, the field trip flow, and the kind of experiences children will return to week after week.
Exact dates, addresses, and weather updates are shared with enrolled families through the parent Telegram group.
Calendar details are planned in advance and may shift if a location, weather, safety, or group need requires an adjustment.
What tuition supports
Freedom Friends is not priced around whether a park, library, or community location is free to enter. Families are paying for the full experience of it all being planned, organized, guided, and held together for them.
Across the September through May season, Freedom Friends represents a minimum of 200 hours of planning, coordination, communication, preparation, facilitation, and leadership. That includes both the visible gathering time and the many behind-the-scenes hours it takes to create a consistent, meaningful homeschool community.
Enrollment & Tuition
Freedom Friends is intentionally kept small so children can build real familiarity, friendship, confidence, and comfort over time. Enrollment is limited to approximately 8 to 12 families each season.
Fill out the application so Maria can understand your children, your homeschool season, and your family’s goals.
Approved families receive a $97 family enrollment deposit invoice to officially reserve their place.
Once enrolled, families receive Telegram access and invitations to summer connection gatherings.
Weekly gatherings begin September 10th, 2026 with a familiar rhythm children can settle into over time.

"Your classes that brought camaraderie, The social aspect of it and classmate part was so good for the kids.
I truly loved the sense of 'class' you brought to the table. The kids had their 'clan' and it was definitely something we missed!"
Meet your facilitator
Maria holds a Master of Leadership and brings her background in child and youth development, leadership studies, and homeschool support into every gathering.
Using creative approaches, she connects with children in a way that helps them feel seen, included, and capable. Learning does not have to look one way to be meaningful.
In Freedom Friends, Maria honors the parents who come with the child and models a family style of learning that parents can observe, absorb, and bring home.
After enrollment, families receive a Calendly link inside the Telegram group to schedule their included session. You may choose a private Telegram support week or a private 90 minute call. This support is optional, but should be used within the first 3 months of enrollment so your family receives the most benefit early in the season.
